Embu County is also a gateway to Mt. Kenya and has the little known Mwea National Reserve and several tourist attraction sites that remain unexploited. The Mwea National Reserve is a popular site for wild game viewing and boat rides at Kamburu dam. It also has over 200 species of birds and is renowned for its water birds and waders. Wildlife lovers also have the chance to see Bush bucks, Impalas, Aardvarks, Yellow baboons, Dik dik etc. Embu County is famous for game viewing, boat rides at Kamburu dam, hippo point, bird watching and beautiful walking circuits.
As riders embark on this year’s Epik challenge, they should also take time off to enjoy what these counties have to offer as they dare to discover and engage.
